Bloggers Over 40 That Make Every Day Better.

Bloggers Over 40, that you need to follow.

Bloggers Over 40

I want to introduce you to some other bloggers over 40 who will genuinely help make each day a little easier. I started this blog to help women over 40 in their search to find everyday style, makeup and skin care tips that are actually useful. It was my quest to find things that will make our lives a little easier. It has been my observation that most of us at this age are spread REALLY thin. We are still juggling work, home, and kids. Some of us have grown children trying to get out on their own(which FYI- is equally great and terrifying). And some of us still have small children who require 15,000 tiny moments of our attention throughout the day. But in the midst of all of this, WE are also changing (ahem, AGAIN. <eye roll>).

“Age is Only a State of Mind”.

While I find that to be true in the mental sense, let me tell ya sistas- …physically……age is real. Gravity is real and stress is real. So while we juggle all.the.things. We are also experiencing changing bodies, skin, hair…… and the ever elusive “Big M” is by God, just around the corner <shudder>! To be honest, I’m not ready to throw in the proverbial towel so I need all the help I can get at this point. I have a handful of bloggers over 40 that I follow religiously and really look forward to their new content. They quite literally make each day better and a little easier for me, so I want to introduce them to you.

Northwest Mountain Living

Cheryl at Northwest Mountain Living, is one of the bloggers over 40 who is always speaking my language with her style choices. When I first really got into blogging Cheryl was so kind and helpful to me. She listened to my desperate email and then was nice enough to let me call her and pepper her with questions on the phone. Cheryl’s style is laid back and easy going like mine. I can always count on her for “wearable” everyday outfits.  She pairs things in great combinations and is my go-to source when I need ideas on how to put my clothes and accessories together! If you follow her on Instagram, it’s like having your own personal lookbook of outfit ideas for every day! Over on her blog she has loads more looks, great tips and shoppable goodies!

The Sequinist

Lisa is another blogger that also listened to my desperate pleas for help in the beginning (and when we were planning to move to the UK). She was so gracious to not only make me laugh, and treat me like an old friend, but also to point me in the right direction. Lisa’s posts are nothing short of a veritable feast- for the eyes as well as for the mind. I always ALWAYS take away something from every single post. She is completely confident in her style and she helps me to be confident in mine. Complete with stunning photos she is also an excellent writer and I find every post to be just a complete joy to read. Her blog is like an indulgence that you look forward to stealing away with, with a cup of coffee. Follow her on Instagram for the epitome of ageless style and glamour, but you are missing out if you don’t soak in the actual posts on her blog at The Sequinist.

Not Dressed As Lamb

If that’s not the most British title for a blog, ever! Catherine is hands down one of the writers who will make you question everything you thought you knew about aging and style. She is one of the first bloggers over 40 that popped up on my screen when I began my search. I remember reaching out to her with some questions that I just couldn’t find the answers to regarding blogging. I could not have been more shocked when she actually answered back! That an award-winning writer would take time out of her incredibly full and busy inbox to help a little, newbie blogger just floored me!  Her blog will strengthen your confidence in your own style and embolden you to take fashion risks that you feel are right for YOU. Catherine is a blogger who writes with great confidence as well as compassion for her readers. She knows who she is and who she is talking to. I come away a better person having spent time reading her posts. Her photography is stunning and if you’ve ever thought about starting a blog, her posts are overwhelmingly the most candid and helpful that I’ve ever seen. Follow her on Instagram for beautiful photos with an uplifting message and run, don’t walk to subscribe to her blog at Not Dressed As Lamb.

Busbee Style

Erin is a style and fashion maven. And since she has moved to Telluride, Colorado I am pretty much her biggest fangirl. Her style is classic with an edgy twist that I absolutely love. Her look is always appropriate but always head turning. Always wearable but never boring. The outdoorsy laid-back vibe of Colorado can easily suck you into the world of performance wear, never to return (I myself am a recovering performance wear addict). Her Youtube videos are helping me to rediscover my style and remember what it’s like to really be strategic in my wardrobe and outfit planning. As another blogger over 40, she is a wealth of information on styling everything from just the basics to being stylish and comfortable at even the most formal, gala event. While she often shows high end, investment pieces she always mixes it up and shows more budget-friendly options as well (Check out this recent video where she styles Walmart selections!). Since watching her channel, I’ve been able to get so much more out of my own closet! She is a joy to watch and you will always come away with something of value to immediately put to use toward your own style. You can follow her on Instagram , definitely check out her YouTube channel and you can subscribe to her blog here.

Hot and Flashy

One simply does not talk about bloggers over 40 without talking about Angie! She was also one of the first ones to pop up on my feed when I began my search. If you are looking for anything that has to do with skin care or makeup for women over 40, you need look no further.  She provides real value in her reviews by being completely thorough and candid. Angie doesn’t hold back if the most talked about product on the internet was a complete flop on her over 40 skin (um, I THANK YOU and my wallet thanks you!). This blogger looks utterly amazing and her site is a complete treasure trove of information for women over 40. Angie goes above and beyond the typical reviewer and will really dive deep into the science behind the ingredients in a product. She cuts through the mind-numbing fog that *IS* skincare ingredients so that you don’t waste your money on the latest, greatest thing only to find out there’s not one ingredient in that beautiful bottle that’s actually helping your skin! She is my most trusted source when it comes to makeup and skin care reviews. I highly recommend following her on Instagram, YouTube and at her blog Hot and Flashy.

The rest of the world should take a cue from the over 40 blogging world. I’ve never seen such a friendly, supportive group of women. We are from all over the world, in different income brackets, with different political views and from completely different backgrounds but that has not slowed for even a second the ability of these incredibly talented, incredibly busy women to support one another. I appreciate their contribution to my world. I respect them and look up to them and they absolutely make each day a little bit easier. And I like easier.

Melissa you are the best – thank you SO much for featuring me!! You’ve said such such lovely things about everyone you’ve included and, I must say, your choices are spot on. I know Lisa very well (we joke that it’s a little TOO well sometimes, plus I adopted her doggy…) and couldn’t agree more with what you said about her. She’s stylish beyond belief and I love her to bits.

Thank you for the kind words, and I’m so glad that I was able to help you in the beginning. It’s lovely to see you thriving and enjoy the whole blogging lark…!

    Much love Catherine x

Catherine, much deserved. I adore your blog and truly look forward to your content. You are an incredibly hard worker and it really comes through on your blog. I have gleaned much my friend! We will have to all have a blogger meet up when I come back across the pond. It does my heart good to think of you and Lisa chatting away! Love you both! Many thanks to you.

I don’t see my previous comment, so Imma leave another one 😀

Thank you so much for including me in your roundup, Melissa! I think the other ladies you’ve chosen not only have fabulous style, but they are all so NICE too! Cheryl is just sunshine in human form, isn’t she? And Catherine couldn’t possibly be more generous and knowledgeable… she’s one of the first people I ever followed, and gosh have I learned a lot from her. As I type this, I am wearing a long grey cardigan from the Nordstrom sale that Erin featured, so she’s influenced me too! Your blog is such a joy to read; I always smile, giggle, and learn… which is really what a blog is all about, imho. xxx

Thank you so much Lisa! And I agree about blogging. It is such a bright, calm spot in a sea of social media noise. I’ve learned so much from each of you and I appreciate your willingness to share, so much. I remain in awe of not only the quality of content from each of you but holy smokes the AMOUNT that comes from some of these ladies! Super impressive. Meanwhile….. I’m going to try to remember to get the dog hair off of my yoga pants before I do a shoot. 😀 Always something.
