Lash Lift and Tint; What is it and do you want it?

If you are over 40, you may have noticed that your lashes, just aren’t what they used to be. I have had great lashes my whole life (thanks, dad). But after turning 40, I noticed that they started becoming shorter and lighter. Well awesome. In a previous post I told you all about Lash Extensions. I am STILL a huge fan. But if that is more upkeep and $$ than you’d like to spend, but your lashes still need some ooompf- you may want to try the Lash Lift and Tint.

Lash Lift and Tint

Before and After

Before Lash Lift and tint

What is a lash lift?

The lash lift is where, your lashes are brushed up and over a little soft “rod”. They are held in place while a “perming” solution is applied. This is left on for a few minutes, then removed and a “setting” solution is applied. Now, if at this point, you are hearkening back to your old “poodle perm” days, I will tell you this- you WILL remember that smell! It is super faint, since so little is used,but- yeah- you’ll be taken straight back to your mom’s old hometown salon.

Lash Lift Process

The setting solution is rinsed off and your lashes are dried with a soft fan. IF, unlike me, you still have dark lashes- you can call it quits at his point. The effect is amazing! Your lashes are lifted and curled in that beautiful “D” curl. Really stunning- and this lasts for at least 8 weeks and up to 12 weeks! The only rule, is the same old cardinal rule upheld religiously when you got a perm in 8th grade: You are forbidden to wet your hair (lashes) for the first 24 hours; fist bump to Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Thats it!

After that, your lash lift is complete and you have the freedom to sleep, shower, and even <gasp> rub your eyes! Lashes stay curled. You can use mascara, false lashes….whatever.

I went a step further and had my lashes tinted as well.Lash lift and tint My lashes had always been black, so this really took them back to my own natural look.

I really love the effect! After lash lift and tint
The entire Lash Lift and Tint process takes an hour or less from start to finish. It feels nice. I experienced nothing but a relaxing procedure that felt like someone was massaging my lash line. There was soft music playing and it was just an incredibly relaxing experience. There was no discomfort at all.

Do you want it?

If you have a good amount of natural lashes, but you want them to just stand out more, then a lash lift will be your best friend. You can add the tint if you want it.

If you don’t want the upkeep of lash extensions but you just want your natural lashes to “pop” more without any effort, then go for the lash lift and/or tint.

If you don’t necessarily care for LONGER lashes, but you just want to give your natural lashes a boost, then definitely go for the lash lift and tint.

If you still like to wear false lashes, heavy mascara, etc for special occasions, then yep- go for the lash lift and tint.

If you love a natural look and just don’t want to fool with an eyelash curler and mascara in the morning, go for the lash lift.

How much is it and where do you get it done?

Here in Colorado Springs, the going rate for a lash lift is $50 and for the lift and tint it is $75. Definitely look to an experienced esthetician and show up without any makeup. Β In my area I highly recommend Kelly at Glistening GloryΒ . She is professional, competitively priced and will put you at ease immediately with whatever procedure you are enjoying.

By the way- if you ever have to take and post pictures of yourself this close up……..you’d better feel pretty confident with yourself! Holy Cow- talk about keepin’ it real! Β I need brow help-and a stiff drink- after these pictures!….. (But it’s only Tuesday- so, I’ll just have to wait until the weekend, <insert wimper>).

How are your lashes holding up after 40?

Cheers!

Melissa

I didn’t even know this existed. Great post and your lashes do look awesome. I’ve never been blessed with great lashes and now that I am 53, I find they are even shorter than they were before. It sounds like this procedure would be a great outing to share with a friend.

You have a great looking blog here and I come by way of our FB group, The Blog Boss Tribe. I’m so glad I did as the mountains, martinis and miracle creams look fantastic. New follower here πŸ™‚

Hello Melissa (discovered you through Catherine/notdressedaslamb’s link-up). Your lashes look awesome (and your close ups :)). My lashes have always been very short and barely noticeable and I tried the lash-lift a couple of years ago – alas, not a great deal of improvement for me. If my lashes were the length yours naturally are, then I’d have been well happy with the results. False lashes I have done for special occasions, but would love to learn how to apply them myself – will have to get brave and practice!

Thanks Valerie! Yes- the falsies do have a bit of a learning curve to them, but they are pretty cheap, so it’s easy to grab some and just go after them! They really do make a HUGE difference in your overall look. I have lash extensions right now, but I think I am going to try the lash serums next and THEN go back for the lift and tint. Much cheaper, and the look is dramatic IF your lashes are long-ish. Let me know how it goes with the false lashes! Once you get the hang of them, you’ll love them. πŸ™‚

Hi Evelyn! Mine lasted for several months. The tint really makes your lashes pop. I was really pleased with the results. 😊
