Based on the name of this blog, obviously lashes are a big deal to me. I want to share what I think is the best bang for your buck for your mature lashes over 50.

At around 45 years of age, mascara just wasn’t cutting it on my mature, short lashes. I’d tried serums and a few did improve my lashes but if I stopped using it, they went back to the way they were. I tried professional lash extensions, strip lashes, magnetic lashes, cluster lashes and probably a few more that I can’t remember. The expense, time commitment, natural lash damage and just the overall hassle left me unsatisfied with anything I’d tried. And my au naturale lashes over 50 look left me feeling quite reptilian when I looked in the mirror!

Everything mentioned here is linked in this post, as well as in my Amazon Storefront for ease of use, but the best and by far the most economical way to purchase through the web site here.

Lashify for lashes over 50

To say that I was hesitant to try Lashify would be an understatement. I felt like it was a considerable investment in something that I didn’t even know would work for me. In fact the control kit was quite a bit more than it costs now. After a ton of research, I decided to purchase a control kit and give it a try. The control kit comes with everything I needed: 2 reusable lash sets, a control wand to apply them, Lashify’s own patented glue, and “water poof” to give everything a final coat for long lasting wear.

When my control kit arrived, I was impressed. The kit is high quality and beautifully packaged all the way. I purchased the kit 5 years ago- it’s still in pristine condition and has seen a LOT of travel time. I can attest to the high quality of everything I’ve purchased from Lashify over the last 5 years. Here is the savings breakdown and the contents from their web site:

How to apply Lashify lashes

To apply these lashes, you lightly brush the adhesive onto your lashes w/ a mascara-like wand. The lashes come in clusters and you take out one at a time using the control wand.

Lashify lashes are applied under your natural lashes, which gives them a much more natural look. There is no visible band and since they don’t touch your skin, you can’t feel them at all after they’re applied. I felt like these went on really easy for me and I loved the way they looked right away. There are loads of tutorials if you need help. The control kit comes with a waterproof sealant that you apply as a final step, to make the lashes waterproof. Over the years, I rarely use that final step any longer. They also sell a pre lash cleanse which I don’t use. I’ve found micellar water works great.

How Long do Lashify lashes last?

Per application, they last about a week, give or take. I sometimes have a stray corner lash that needs reattaching in the morning and when I remember, I give them a press w/ the wand in the AM to make sure everything is in secure for the day. You can reuse the lashes if you are careful when you remove them. A tip for longer use: when you remove them, place them in a dish of rubbing alcohol. Any residue will be removed and they will be like new when you decide to apply them again.

Will Lashify damage natural lashes over 50?

After almost daily wear for almost 5 years, I can say “no”. In my experience, I’ve had no damage to my natural lashes at all, which I consider a huge plus. The glue its self doesn’t dry hard. It remains flexible which I find very comfortable. You want to use the glue very sparingly- a little goes a long way- don’t coat your lashes like you would with mascara and the white glue does dry clear. They also sell an extra strength bond that also remains flexible, which really gives you a set ’em and forget ’em application.

How to remove Lashify lashes?

By the time a week is up, they are pretty easy to lift off to remove, all by themselves. You can purchase the Lashify melt away, but I just use micellar water. On the occasion that I have any residue left on my lashes, I use a double cleanse. But honestly, thats a rare occasion, it’s all pretty straight forward and simple. Again, I pop them into a dish with rubbing alcohol and they are ready for whenever I’m ready to apply them again- which is usually the next day.

Other Notes About Lashify

  • The most economical way to try out Lashify is with the Control kit. It comes with everything you need and is much less than trying to buy the pieces individually. You can choose your control kit here.
  • There are a LOT of lash sizes and designs to choose from and it can be overwhelming. I recommend starting out with A10’s and A 12’s. I personally use A 12’s for every day, and A 14’s for a more made up look.
  • As it says on the site : These are addictive. Once you get the hang of them, the looks that can be created are endless. The most cost effective way to use lashify consistently is to get the subscription box. I get 4 “gossamer” lashes sent once a month. I wear them almost every day, and always have sets in reserve.
  • One tube of glue (bond) lasts a long time. Like- for months and months as long as it’s tightly sealed each time.
  • During the week, unless I have a full face of makeup on, I just carefully wash around the lashes. I’m not sure how well the “water poof” product works- they didn’t have that when I ordered my control kit. But without any sealant, you do have to be careful not to soak your lashes with water. It doesn’t ruin them, but you will have some lifting not long after.

Final Thoughts on Lashify for lashes over 50

For me, this solved my issue with the look of my mature lashes. I’m really pleased with how these lashes look. It takes me no time at all to apply them once a week and I really feel like I’m somewhat pulled together after that! For a fraction of the cost of professional lash extensions, these DIY lashes are 100% worth the time and effort to me. If you’ve been looking for a solution for your lashes over 50, I highly recommend this company and this product. I have tried other dupes and so far nothing can compare.
