Makeup Hacks for Women Over 50

Do you feel like your makeup routine could use a little boost? As we age, there are lots of little make-up tips and tricks that we can use to blur some of the effects that we might want to distract from and give our faces and eyes a radiant glow. You may have these products already but just need to tweak the application a little bit! Read on for my favorite makeup hacks for women over 50.

Brighter Eyes

As we age it seems like we all notice the whites of our eyes get a little less bright and even have a gray-ish or yellow-ish tint. Use these eye drops and watch your eyes get BRIGHT white in a minute. I’ve never used any other drops that can come close to brightening like these do. It’s an instant pick-me-up!

Apply concealer AFTER your foundation

(If you wear foundation) just in the hollows of the eyes and a bit on the outside of the eye and use a soft concealer brush to blend and brighten the eyes more. I wear Shape Tape concealer in shade 29N and this one by Loreal is also very good.

Illuminate!

Use a creamy highlighter to add that “lit from within” look. You want “glow’ not “glitter” so I highly recommend this one (under $10!) to achieve the effect. Place under the brow, down the center of the nose and on the cheekbones. Higher on the cheekbones will slim the face, while placing it on the apples of the cheeks will provide a plumping effect.

Lashes

Obviously I think lashes are a game changer as we age. My all time favorite hack is using DIY extensions. You can read that tutorial here. But if that’s too over the top for you. A good eyelash curler and this tubing mascara will absolutely make your lashes look beautiful and it will stay on all day. The mascara also has a lifting effect.

Lip Plump

As we age our lips get thinner and the corners of our mouths begin to naturally turn downward a little. Use a creamy, light mauve lip liner and don’t line corner to corner. Instead, start lining just about an inch from the corner. Line just below your actual bottom lip line and on the edge the top lip line. Fill in staying away from the corners. Add this lip plumping gloss in the color Dolly to really give your lips a pretty plumping effect!
