Merit Beauty for Mature Skin: My Honest Review

If you’ve spent any time on beauty accounts lately, you’ve seen Merit Beauty everywhere. The internet is full of products that photograph beautifully and do very little on skin that isn’t twenty-five anymore. I almost let Merit become one more brand I admired from a distance. I was gifted the pieces I kept seeing recommended, used them daily for several weeks, and I’m telling you exactly what I think about Merit Beauty for mature skin, including where I’m still holding back. This post is not sponsored in any way and the opinions are my own.

The Detail That Told Me Merit Was Different
The first thing I noticed had nothing to do with how the products performed. It was the packaging. Merit clearly thought through the color of every case, so each product looks slightly different from the next, but still cohesive. That sounds small until you’re digging through a drawer trying to find your bronzer by feel and color memory instead of squinting at tiny labels. It’s the kind of detail that tells you a brand was designed by someone who actually uses makeup, not just someone who sells it. Each product feels substantial and high quality to the touch.
The Complexion Stick That Makes My Skin Still Look Like Skin
The Complexion Stick was my starting point, in the shade Bisque, and it’s become the product I reach for without thinking. Merit says “it’s the foundation stick that makes your skin look like skin”, and the tagline holds up. It doesn’t sit on top of your face the way a lot of foundation sticks do, or settle into the lines it should be smoothing over. It blurs the imperfections you actually want blurred and evens out tone, but your skin still reads as skin, not as a mask laid over it. A little goes a long way: it blends easily, feels hydrating and never drying. I didn’t buy the Merit brush and used one of my own instead, and it applied just as well. You don’t need the brand’s brush to get the result.
The Bronzer Stick I Can’t Mess Up
The Bronze Balm, in the shade Clay, is the bronzer and contour stick I don’t think you could get wrong if you tried. It’s a sheer, buildable cream that gives your skin a wash of warmth rather than a stripe of color, which matters more the older you get. I use it on the cheeks for color, then along the forehead, the sides of the nose, and the jawline for contour. It blends just as easily with fingers as with a brush, and because it’s buildable, you can go from a hint of warmth to a full contour without switching products.
The Serum That Changed My Morning Routine
If I could only keep one Merit product, it would be the Great Skin Serum, without a second thought. I haven’t used anything quite like it. It delivers hydration you feel the moment it touches your skin, and gives a serious “I just had a very good facial” effect immediately. It works so well under makeup, and I’ve tested it both ways now, and skin that has the serum applied underneath the Complexion Stick really looks better. This is the product that really made me sit up and take notice. I’ve not tried anything like it and I mean that.
What’s Next in My Cart
The lipliner and blush are already in my cart in the color Bespoke. I looked at both in store, and based on everything else Merit has gotten right, I’d be surprised if either lets me down. I’ll report back once I’ve actually worn them, because that’s the only kind of review I write.
Is Merit Beauty for Mature Skin? My Honest Verdict
Merit has earned a permanent spot in my everyday routine, and that’s not a small claim from someone who has tried more beauty brands than she can count. This is what an effortless routine over 50 should look like: three products, five minutes, and skin that still looks like your own…..but better. Most of the lineup sits in the thirty-to-fifty-dollar range, not cheap, but not luxury priced either, and worth it for products that actually just do their job and do it really well.
This routine handles skin. If your eye makeup needs the same rethink, I walk through that in my guide to applying makeup to hooded eyes over 50.
