The Winter Outfit to See You Through The Rest of Winter

We still have quite a bit of winter ahead, so I wanted to share a winter outfit that might boost your cold weather blues and see you through the rest of it like a boss…… A chic, warm, stylish boss. 😉

Do you have a good, neutral, structured coat? If you don’t I would highly recommend making that purchase. There are loads of sales on right now so you can get a good deal on a quality coat. The exact one I’m wearing is from JCrew and is about 10 years old! A good, neutral color, wool coat is a winter outfit staple you can count on. It will always elevate the look of any outfit, it can go on over bulky sweaters and you can pile a scarf over the top for ultimate warmth. If camel is a color that washes you out, then go for navy, black, cream or even the very popular “pressed rose” (kind of a muted, dusty rose) color that we are seeing already in 2019.Here are some great ones I found:

Add a cashmere turtleneck or V neck sweater. I am a complete cashmere hoarder. I seriously collect it like a greedy miser, stashing away my pieces year after year. I rarely ever pay full price for it, and right now there are some great sales on cashmere. You simply cannot beat it for warmth and comfort. It is my lifelong goal to drape myself in all cashmere, head to toe, all winter long. I like the chic look of black and camel together, but any combination of neutrals will accomplish the same look. The store I love to go to for cashmere ( and which frequently runs these sweaters on sale) is Bloomingdales . They have 2 brands unique to their store that sell affordable, quality cashmere: “Aqua” and “C” are brands you can trust for affordable cashmere to add to your winter outfit to stay cozy and warm.

I love to wear my most favorite, comfortable skinny jeans with this look. They elongate the leg and did I mention that they are comfortable? These days you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a good looking, comfortable pair of jeans. I still love some light distressing on mine, but I’ll leave the major holes and distressing to the younger crowd.

Lastly- pull out those over the knee boots! Its cold outside, and these things will keep you warm. They definitely kick the look up a notch and are super comfortable with their low, sturdy block heel. You could walk for days in these and the style isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so snap up a pair while they are on sale. You’ll be glad that you did. Here are some that are on sale and currently still in stock:

With this winter outfit as a base, you could go anywhere. If you needed to dress it up more, load up on the accessories. From sunglasses to scarves, to winter hats and gloves. Just pile on for style as well as warmth. You can use a stylish backpack purse, a small crossbody bag, or even the belt bag trend would look great here.

What do you think? Do you have an older structured coat in your closet thats been gathering dust? Pull that thing out and give this outfit a try! It’ll be just the thing to snap you out of that cold weather funk and get you through the rest of winter!

A camel coat is such a great piece. A classic and it goes with almost everything.

Thanks Julie! It really is. And grabbing one of good quality really makes sense since they basically never go out of style.
      Thanks so much,

If I had the opportunity to wear a coat, I’d get a camel one…and when I move back to the south, it will be on my list. I adore this combination of black and camel. So classic and makes such a great statement. I really love this look!!! XOXO

Thank you Lisa! This is definitely a “go to” for me. It’s a look I don’t have to think about and that so many different variations will still work. I can’t even imagine living somewhere that I never, ever would need a coat, lol.

I’ve blown through my camel coat; years and years of wear, and it has actually just fallen apart… and that is after the threadbare stage! I need a new one, and I love the length and proportions of your J Crew one. I have to say, a blonde in camel/cream/black is such an elegant palette. Beautiful, Melissa.

Speaking of blonde, perhaps I am being dumb but I can’t figure out the brand of the comfortable jeans you are wearing. I like the ones you’ve linked to as well, but which brand is girding your limbs in these photos? The fit looks amazing.

Thank you so much Lisa! I feel like my coat will meet the same end, lol. The jeans I’m wearing are Articles of Society….. I have two pair and they are both super comfortable and are a good price point. They don’t lift the bum like some of my others do, but ya know……thats actually asking a lot of ANY denim these days. 😀 YOOX has this pair for $72: https://rstyle.me/~aMCuS
